From May through October, the Quadra Farmers Market is a quaint and wonderful Saturday tradition.
Each June roughly 30 artists impress art lovers from BC and far beyond in the Quadra Studio Tour.
Beautiful Quadra Golf Course is a magnet for visitors who love the sport — and there are many.
There's no place like it.
Our island is a magnificent place, a veritable haven for nature seekers, a community for sports enthusiasts, sea lovers, hard workers, retirees, and for growing families. It's also a paradise for country-minded gardeners who probably breathe the freshest air in British Columbia.
We're proud of our island, and many residents defend it vigorously from over-gentrification. We often think that we have just the right blend of city and country, the perfect combination of solace and clamour, the ideal topograpy for those who love to cycle, exceptional access to kayaking and hiking environments, and much more. We're also just far enough away (and close enough) to larger cities such as Nanaimo, Victoria, and Vancouver. It may be a trite expression, but it certainly applies here: You come to visit and you never leave.
Quadra Island is a jewel for exploring. It's at the doorstep of Desolation Sound, well known for its stunning diversity and ecotourism.
To appreciate the sights, one only needs to get here. To appreciate our community events, it's a fairly simple matter. Just grab one of our local publications in hard copy or look online. Almost all visitors hear about Quadra Island well before they arrive, and often guests of Whiskey Point Resort come to attend a planned event. Our guests are usually aware of traditional events such as May Day and Canada Day or the Quadra Fall Fair.
Beyond our annual community events, however, there are dozens of weddings and conventions that bring visitors because Quadra is always the perfect place. There are also numerous food-and-drink-related festivities that draw visitors because Quadra Islanders, like other islanders in this area, certainly love to do it in style.
